Taylor's whole body approach with Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) is a game changer. She has a gift for assessing your body as a whole, addressing the root cause, and paying meticulous attention to neural tension as a key component to recovery. As an athlete and Massage Therapist of over 15 years, I have recovered from 20 years of chronic low back pain, a dislocated shoulder, extreme pain, tingling, and numbness in my extremities and more all with the help of FMT over the last 5 years.

Dr. Taylor McNair is the most qualified and most effective physical therapist I have seen for both my back and upper body issues. She thoroughly evaluates the condition(s), listens carefully to the client, is flexible to change/alter treatment as needed. Her fellowship in Functional Manual Therapy, I believe, is a large reason that she stands heads above other therapists. I also benefitted from dry needling, other physical therapy modalities, and of course the exercise programs she developed for me.

Many movement dysfunctions or painful problems in your body can be understood by considering the body's mechanical capacity, neuromuscular control, and motor control. This is a fancy way to say can the parts move, do you have control of the parts, and can you run good programs for those parts.
Manual therapy is one of the best ways to improve your body's mechanical capacity. With skilled and specific hands on techniques, stiff or poorly aligned joints and body regions can become springy and efficient again.
Once your body has the capacity to move, it needs to be trained how to control that movement and how to integrate it into your activities.

The Problem with Specialists...
Don't I need to see someone who only treats shoulders if I have a shoulder problem? Or specializes in the spine? Or just pelvic floor problems...?
Not necessarily!!
Here's why...
Your body is not making a distinction between your shoulder and your arm and your neck. Your body does not distinguish between a hip problem affecting your low back vs. your pelvic floor.
It is one fluid body that moves as a complicated unit. When we zero in and focus on only the painful part, we miss an opportunity to understand how other areas may be contributing to the pain.
In the case of the shoulder, you really need an expert in the shoulder, the neck, and the arm. But, also the rib cage, because that's the home for the scapula. And once you consider the rib cage, then you need someone who understands the lungs, and how asthma may affect your rib position, as well as nerves running from the neck into the arm and past the shoulder.
You get the idea!
You are one connected person, which is why you need an integrated, whole body approach!
